The Catch

During our stay at The Park earlier in the year (here is our separate review of The Park) we were invited for dinner at The Catch nestled in the centre of Mawgan Porth.

With it being dog friendly is was a must to try out. From the outside the décor was lovely with a real beach vibe; there is plenty of outside seating to watch the sun set over the beach.

Inside was just as inviting it was tastefully decorated with a real Cornish coastal theme running throughout the restaurant.

We received a warm friendly welcome from the staff and seated with a stunning view over Mawgan Porth‘s beach. The Catch has a very relaxing atmosphere.

Looking through the menu and being in a seafood restaurant it felt wrong to try anything but seafood.

I eventually decided on:

Crispy Cornish sea salted & black peppered calamari with garlic aioli, I love calamari and this certainly did not disappoint.

For my main I decided to try the lobster, I had never had lobster before so this was a new experience for me, it came with rock samphire and garlic butter, triple cooked chips & garden salad. it was truly delicious I would definitely have lobster again.

Stu went for:

Steamed St Austell Bay mussels in an marinière broth for a starter, he couldn’t believe the size of the bowl of mussels it was huge.

Stu’s main was the catch of the day, Pollock in crispy Harbour craft ale batter with sea salted chips.

We both decided to share a dessert and of course went for a traditional chocolate brownie, it was so scrummy.

We had a fantastic evening at The Catch, and look forward to returning again.
